HOW CAN YOU HELP PRESERVE OUR LOWCOUNTRY ISLAND?
There are many tax advantaged ways to support our community. In consultation with your tax advisor, consider the options outlined below.
DONATING YOUR UNDEVELOPED LOT TO THE CONSERVANCY: This gift creates another SIPOA green space for our community. Neighbors have also joined together to preserve a property, whether through a joint purchase and donation or a cash donation to the Conservancy.
DONATING FROM YOUR IRA: You may contribute money directly from your IRA account and reduce your taxable income.
CORPORATE MATCHING GIFTS: Check with your employer to see if they have a matching gift program.
CASH DONATION - This is always greatly appreciated!
GIFTS OF SECURITIES: Gifts of publicly traded securities that have appreciated in value may allow you to claim a charitable deduction for the full market value of the securities on the date the gift is made. You avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation.

Property Donations
The Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Donations are tax deductible as provided for in IRS and State laws and regulations. Donations of cash, securities, or undeveloped land are made directly to the Conservancy. Alternatively, you may include SIGSC in your estate plan, in recognition of a special event or as a memorial. Donations of cash or securities may be made at any time, no need to wait for an annual fund-raising drive.
A donation of undeveloped land is the most direct means to increase the amount of dedicated green space on Seabrook Island. Such in-kind transfer by deed may also offer significant tax advantages. Transfers are facilitated by the services of the Conservancy’s pro bono counsel, Buist, Byars, & Taylor. The property is then transferred by deed, with protective green space covenants, to the Seabrook Island Property Owners Association.
