Green Day
The Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy’s first ever Green Day was held on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Participants began their journey by stopping in at the Oyster Catcher Community Center between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m. where they picked up a passport and map, which guided them to the many Conservancy properties. A Green Space volunteer was stationed on each parcel where they shared interesting facts about the lot and stamped each person’s passport.
At 4:00 p.m. everyone returned to the Community Center to go through customs and to join the celebration with former board members and property donors. Live animals from Camp St. Christopher’s Barrier Island greeted everyone on the front porch. Inside participants listened to the pure sounds of Bob Becker performing green tunes, perused the environmental displays from several local groups, and enjoyed homemade appetizers and a selection of beverages.
No Conservancy monies were used on this day as the SIGSC Board of Directors funded Green Day to thank our community for their continuing support.
